The Centralized Planning team is growing! Lisa Mange joins us as a Senior Financial Planning Specialist, adding both planning expertise and capacity. She is a CFP® professional and has been financial planning since 2019.

When she is not planning, Lisa is enjoying West Michigan lake summers, camping, and river tubing. She has also finished the Detroit International Half Marathon, one of the most highly rated races in the US, which routes into Canada through two international border crossings.

Thanks to everyone who joined this month's office hours. Here's a rundown of the custodial updates, reminders, and resources covered, so you have it handy for reference. 

 

Schwab Updates

Monthly forms refresh. Several forms have new accepted versions. Here's what's current and through when:

  • IRA: version 64, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Schwab One Personal: versions 44-46, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Trust: version 22, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Incorporated: version 21, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Non-Incorporated: version 24, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • IA LPOA: version 32, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Inherited IRA for Individuals: version 22, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Inherited IRA for Estates, Trusts, Orgs: version 15, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Custodial / Minor IRA: version 15, accepted through 10/9/2026

  • Options / Trading / Margin: version 31 accepted through 8/19/2026, version 32 accepted through 10/9/2026

  • SEP/SIMPLE IRA Recharacterization: now built into the IRA form. The prior standalone form is accepted through 9/1/2026

Heads up: Annual SLOA notifications are going out to clients now through August, reminding them of the authorizations currently on file. No action needed on your end, just a note in case clients have questions.

Fidelity Updates

  • New: Service Center Status Items are now available

  • New: Update Accounts, a digital hire/fire form. You'll need the account number, first and last name, mobile phone, and email address

  • Add Agent or Advisor: include all three G-numbers, same as the paper form

  • AMA: Level 1 is available for both first- and third-party requests

Deceased Client Reminders

A quick refresher on the process:

  1. Contact your Schwab service team right away to report the death. The agreement between all parties is no longer valid once you do.

  2. Email [email protected] letting us know that the client has passed away.

  3. Check the account registration list in the "What you'll need" section to confirm which forms apply. If your account registration isn't listed, reach out to your Schwab service team.

  4. Once you've identified the right form, DocuSign can be used to submit it to Schwab.

Donor Advised Funds

Schwab:

  • No minimum to open an account or to add contributions

  • Administrative fee is deducted directly from the account, either annually or quarterly

  • Accounts must be over $100,000 to invest in Triad models and be charged a fee (annual fee capped at 1%)

  • Below $100,000, clients can choose from predefined investment pools

  • Account opening is supported through the Digital Workflow

  • More detail is available in the DAF Overview & Training

Fidelity: Not currently supported.
